The Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board has commenced medical screening and immunization for intending pilgrims as part of preparations for the 2026 Hajj exercise.

The Director-General of the Board, Abubakar Ibrahim Matawalle, officially flagged off the exercise on Tuesday at the Hajj Camp Clinic in Kano.

Speaking during the ceremony, Matawalle stated that the medical screening and immunization are mandatory for all prospective pilgrims, in compliance with directives from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

He explained that the exercise is aimed at ensuring that pilgrims are physically fit and medically cleared before the issuance of Hajj visas for the 2026 pilgrimage.

According to him, the screening is structured to accommodate 250 pilgrims daily, with participants scheduled according to their respective Local Government Areas to guarantee a smooth and orderly process.

The Director-General commended the medical personnel and board officials for their dedication and professionalism.

He also urged intending pilgrims to cooperate fully with health officials to ensure the success of the exercise.

The Board reiterated its commitment to providing quality welfare services and ensuring a seamless and hitch-free Hajj operation for all pilgrims from the state.
