No fewer than 57 pupils of Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi Model Nursery and Primary School, Kaugama Local Government Area of Jigawa State, have successfully memorised the Holy Qur’an, marking a major milestone in the history of the institution.
Speaking at the ceremonial graduation, the Chief Imam of Kaugama Local Government Area, Malam Nura Liman, represented by Sayyadi Yahaya Jibrin, described the event as historic, noting that it was the first formal graduation ceremony for students who completed Qur’anic memorisation at the school.
He added that similar ceremonies are conducted in schools affiliated with and registered under the name of Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi across different parts of the country.
One of the organisers of the event, Ibrahim Muhammad Abega, drew attention to the pressing needs of the school, calling for urgent assistance in the provision of classroom blocks and other sources of revenue to enable the management pay teachers’ salaries and allowances.
He also appealed to government authorities to support the school with additional classrooms to create a conducive atmosphere for effective teaching and learning.
In his remarks, the Chief Imam of Hadejia Emirate, Sheikh Yusuf Abdurrahman Ya’u, appealed to government, politicians and wealthy individuals to come to the aid of the school by supporting the construction of well-equipped and durable classrooms.
He also commended the dedication and commitment of the Islamiyya teachers who guided the pupils through the rigorous process of Qur’anic memorisation.
Al-Sheikh Aliyu, son of Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi, administered selected verses of the Holy Qur’an to the graduating pupils and advised them to practise the teachings they had learnt and impart the knowledge to others.
Representing the Emir of Hadejia and Chairman, Jigawa State Council of Chiefs, Dr Abubakar Maje Haruna, the Turakin Hadejia, Dauda A. Yusuf, assured the school management that their requests would be presented to the Emirate Council for consideration and necessary action.
He also commended the strong participation of male pupils among those who completed the Qur’anic memorisation.
At the end of the ceremony, the school management presented awards of honour to philanthropists who have been supporting the institution in carrying out its day-to-day activities.
