Despite falling short of lifting the Africa Cup of Nations trophy, Chairman of BUA Group, Abdulsamad Rabiu, has reaffirmed his commitment to reward the Super Eagles with the promised $500,000.

He gave the assurance on Thursday via a post on his official Instagram page, where he praised the national team for their resilience, unity, and determination throughout the tournament.

Rabiu noted that although the Super Eagles did not clinch the title, their performances on the pitch reflected courage, discipline, and commitment, qualities that earned them the admiration of Nigerians both at home and in the diaspora.

Commending the players’ fighting spirit, the billionaire industrialist said their journey was worthy of celebration, stressing that effort and unity often matter as much as the final result.

As a mark of appreciation for their hard work and the pride they brought to the nation, Rabiu said he would still honour his pledge of $500,000, describing the reward as recognition of the team’s dedication and inspiring display.

He urged the players to remain confident, adding that the experience and lessons from the tournament would position them for greater success in future competitions.

Nigeria exited the 2025 AFCON on Wednesday after losing to Morocco’s Atlas Lions in a tense penalty shootout.

Goalkeeper Yassine Bounou saved efforts from Samuel Chukwueze and Bruno Onyemaechi before Youssef En-Nesyri converted the decisive kick, sealing Morocco’s place in the final and triggering celebrations at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat.
