The Former Kano State Governor and National Leader of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has urged the Kano State Commissioner of Police to withdraw security operatives deployed to the Nasarawa Palace, where the 15th Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero, is currently staying.

Kwankwaso appealed on Tuesday during his address at the official launch of the Kano State Government-owned Neighbourhood Watch Corps held in Kano.

He maintained that Muhammadu Sanusi II remains the only legitimate Emir of Kano, warning that the creation or sustenance of parallel traditional institutions would undermine peace and stability in the state.

According to the former governor, the use of security personnel to impose an emir is unacceptable and could escalate tension within the state.

He further described the decision to accommodate Aminu Ado Bayero at the Nasarawa Palace as contrary to Kano’s traditions and the revered status of the emirate institution.

Kwankwaso called on security agencies to act in strict compliance with the law and directives of the government, stressing the need to avoid actions that could provoke public unrest.

The call comes as legal battles over the Kano Emirate continue, fuelling public debate and concern among residents and stakeholders across the state.
