Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has formally defected to the Accord Party, where he will seek re-election for a second term.
Adeleke announced during a stakeholders’ meeting at the Banquet Hall of the Government House, attended by top national and state leaders of the Accord Party. His move follows his recent resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
In a statement issued on Tuesday by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, the governor revealed that he quietly joined the Accord Party over a month ago, on 6 November after extensive consultations with political stakeholders and community leaders.
He explained that the decision was driven by the need to continue delivering good governance and complete various ongoing projects that have earned widespread commendation both within and outside the state.
“We opted for the Accord Party because its mission of welfarism aligns with our passionate focus on citizens’ and workers’ welfare,” Adeleke said, adding that the party provides the right platform for his 2026 re-election bid.
