Kano State Government, under the leadership of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, acknowledges the growing concerns from members of the public regarding the increasing activities of commercial motorcycle operators (Achaba) across various parts of the state.
Genuine information and intelligence reports have confirmed the presence and spread of Achaba operations in various quarters within the Kano metropolis.
Similarly, some reports have also indicated how nearby and border communities have witnessed increased activities of Achaba operators, a trade which has long been banned in the state.
The Kano State Government has also received information about the infiltration of some unknown individuals operating motorcycles as commercial operators across certain communities in the metropolis.
In line with the State Government’s firm commitment to safeguarding the lives and property of Kano citizens, appropriate measures are being deployed to contain the security challenges across the 44 Local Government Areas of the state.
The State Government wishes to inform the public that our competent security agencies are on top of the situation.
While the State has provided all necessary support to the security agencies, it remains determined to provide any additional assistance required to ensure that they perform their mandate comfortably, professionally, and effectively.
While the Government acknowledges the public recommendations on enhanced monitoring, including surveillance at all entry and exit points of the state, the Kano State Government wishes to assure citizens that these suggestions are currently being reviewed as part of a broader security assessment and response strategy.
The Kano State Government sincerely appreciates the vigilance, concern, cooperation, and patriotism of the good people of Kano, as well as the confidence and trust they have in the ability of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s administration to address the situation.
The Government encourages citizens to remain cautious and vigilant, report all suspicious activities, and continue to cooperate with security agencies so that together we can overcome our security challenges.
We reaffirm that Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf remains fully committed to addressing all security-related challenges and will continue to work closely with local government leadership, traditional institutions, community leaders, security agencies, and citizens’ groups to ensure that full-scale security, stability, and peace are restored in Kano State.
