Tinubu Commissions 1,187 New Police Officers at POLAC Passing Out Parade

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Saturday commissioned 1,187 cadets of Regular Course 7 as Assistant Superintendents of Police (ASPs) after their successful completion of a five-year academic and professional training program at the Nigeria Police Academy (POLAC), Wudil, Kano State.

According to a statement by the Force spokesperson, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, the Passing Out Parade (POP) was as colourful and historic, marking the formal entry of the cadets into the Nigeria Police Force.

In addition to their commissioning, the graduates also earned Bachelor’s degrees in various disciplines, equipping them with a blend of academic knowledge and professional policing skills.

President Tinubu, who was represented by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, congratulated the newly commissioned officers and urged them to uphold integrity, professionalism, and respect for human rights in the discharge of their duties.

He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to comprehensive police reforms, improved welfare, and strengthened operational capacity across the Force.

The ceremony drew an impressive gathering of dignitaries, including Shanta Emily Knowles of the Royal Bahamas Police Force; Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf; representatives of the Chief of Defence Staff and Service Chiefs; members of the National Assembly; senior government officials; heads of security agencies; retired and serving police officers; traditional and religious leaders; as well as families and well-wishers of the graduating cadets.

Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, PhD, NPM, congratulated the new officers for their discipline and resilience throughout the training period.

He reminded them that effective policing is anchored on character, discipline, and professionalism, and urged them to remain committed to protecting lives and property, maintaining law and order, and restoring public trust in the Police.

The Nigeria Police Force reiterated its commitment to producing highly trained and professional officers capable of tackling contemporary security challenges.
