The Chairman of Dala Local Government, Hon. Suraj Ibrahim Imam, has disbursed over N50,000 in empowerment funds to 200 women across the area, in an effort to strengthen home-based businesses and promote economic self-reliance among women.
Speaking during the event, Hon. Imam urged the beneficiaries to use the financial support responsibly to expand their various trades and reduce financial pressure on their husbands.
He stressed that no political leader or ward representative is allowed to withhold or divert any part of the funds, emphasizing that the initiative is part of the promises made by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf during the electioneering period.
He reaffirmed that Governor Yusuf remains committed to fulfilling his campaign pledges. Imam also appealed for calm among women whose names were not included in the current phase, assuring them that subsequent rounds of the program would accommodate all deserving beneficiaries, adding that “nobody will be shortchanged under my watch.”
Delivering a goodwill message on behalf of the Governor, the Commissioner for Higher Education, Dr. Yusuf Ibrahim Kofar Mata, said the empowerment program reflects the Governor’s appreciation for the steadfast support of women who stood by him despite harsh conditions during the last elections.
He praised Dala Local Government leadership for prioritising the welfare of party loyalists, noting that “charity begins at home.”
Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Malama Rukayya Muhammad Yahaya expressed profound gratitude to Governor Yusuf for the timely assistance. She assured that the funds would be used to grow their small businesses and not wasted on frivolities.
The event was attended by several political figures, including the Chairman of FOCUS, Alhaji Usamatu Salga, Alhaji Yahaya Baba Maiduniya, and the Municipal House Leader.
