The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has declared that social media influencer Martins Otse, popularly known as Verydarkman (VDM), and comedian Freedom Atsepoyi, widely called Mr. Jollof, will face legal consequences after the duo was filmed fighting aboard a commercial flight.
The altercation, which occurred on Monday during an Abuja-bound trip, caused panic among passengers when a heated verbal exchange escalated into a physical confrontation.
Cabin crew members and shocked travellers intervened to separate the pair.
In a statement on his official X handle, Michael Achimugu, Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection at the NCAA, confirmed that the Authority is awaiting a formal incident report from the airline, which is currently holding an internal management meeting on the matter.
He noted that this process aligns with global aviation standards.
Achimugu revealed that NCAA officers in Asaba have been directed to investigate the exact actions taken by aviation security, pilots, and other airline staff during the disturbance.
The probe will examine the response time of security officials, when the pilot sought assistance, and the condition of passengers after the incident.
Although the NCAA does not have prosecutorial powers, Achimugu said the Authority will recommend that the airline blacklist both men.
The incident will also be formally reported to the Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF) and the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) for possible prosecution.
He condemned the conduct as unacceptable, especially from two public figures known for advising followers against disruptive behavior, and reiterated that the NCAA continues to intensify sensitization efforts on the dangers and penalties of unruly conduct onboard aircraft.
