Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to protecting the rights and interests of Christians in the state.

He gave the assurance when he received a delegation from the Nupe Kalvari Church, Minna, during a courtesy visit to the Government House.

Bologi Ibrahim, Bago’s spokesperson, in a statement on Tuesday, said the Governor pledged to continue supporting the activities of the church and uphold the constitutional right of every citizen to practice their faith without fear or discrimination.

Governor Bago expressed appreciation to the Nupe Kalvari Church for its long-standing support, recalling the encouragement he received from the church since his election to the House of Representatives in 2009 and throughout his journey to becoming governor.

He also acknowledged the support of the Christian community in the state. He restated his administration’s commitment to promoting religious tolerance, peaceful coexistence, and unity among all faiths in Niger State.

Earlier, the General Overseer of the Nupe Kalvari Church, Pastor Emmanuel Sunday Kolo, commended Governor Bago for his consistent support of the church and the Christian population.

He described the governor as an exemplary leader whose policies under the “New Niger Agenda” are transforming the state.

Representing the governor at the 2025 Annual Conference of the Nupe Kalvari Church, Permanent Secretary James Bake expressed gratitude for the warm relationship between the government and the Christian community.

During the visit, the church presented Governor Bago with symbolic gifts, including a Holy Bible, a hoe, a traditional hat and a portrait, items reflecting his identity as a leader and farmer dedicated to service
