The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) posted a profit of ₦539 billion in August 2025, up 91.3% from ₦185 billion in July, according to its latest monthly report.
Revenue also climbed to ₦4.655 trillion from ₦4.406 trillion in the same period.
The company said it remitted ₦8.86 trillion into the Federation Account between January and July, reaffirming its critical role in government financing.
Despite the strong earnings, crude oil output dipped to 1.65 million barrels per day in August, down from 1.7 million in July, while gas production fell 10% to 6,949mmscf/d. NNPCL attributed the decline to scheduled maintenance, including Nigeria LNG’s Turn Around Maintenance.
On infrastructure projects, the firm revealed that the Ajaokuta-Kaduna-Kano (AKK) gas pipeline is 84% complete, while the Obiafu-Obrikom-Oben (OB3) pipeline is 96% finished.
The commissioned section of the OB3 already supplies around 300mmscf/d of gas from several producers.
NNPCL said the completion of these pipelines will expand domestic gas supply, improve electricity generation, and strengthen Nigeria’s industrial capacity despite ongoing challenges of theft, underinvestment, and production disruptions.
