Yobe PHC Board Holds 2025 Biannual Review to Boost Healthcare Delivery

The Yobe State Primary Healthcare Board (YSPHCB) has held its 2025 Biannual Technical Performance Review Meeting in Damaturu, aimed at strengthening healthcare delivery across the state.

The high-level session, organized in partnership with UNICEF, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF), and the Dangote Foundation, gathered Directors of Primary Healthcare and Local Government Area (LGA) teams at the Desert Multi-Purpose Hall to review progress, assess performance, and agree on strategies for improved service delivery.

In his address, the Executive Secretary of the Board, Dr. Babagana Kundi Machina, represented by Dr. Umar Chiroma, Director of Immunization and Disease Control, urged LGA teams to intensify efforts to ensure accessible, quality healthcare. He stressed the need for data-driven decision-making and accountability to achieve better health outcomes.

The review featured LGA-level performance presentations, discussions on implementation challenges, and adoption of strategic resolutions. Dr. Chiroma also outlined actionable next steps to address existing gaps.

Welcoming participants, the Director of Community and Family Health, Ibrahim Maikasuwa, FSI, commended the state’s development partners for their unwavering support.

Representatives of UNICEF, WHO, BMGF, SOLINA, CHAI, TA Connect, Lafiya UK, and the Chigari Foundation delivered goodwill messages, pledging continued collaboration to strengthen Yobe’s primary healthcare system.
