The Minister of Works, Sen. David Umahi, who was on an inspection tour of federal road projects in Benue State, has commended Governor Hyacinth Alia for what he described as “remarkable transformation” in the state within the last two years.

Speaking during the visit on Saturday, the Minister expressed surprise at the scale and quality of infrastructure projects executed under the present administration, noting that even his aides were astonished by the progress recorded.

“I have been here several times, especially when I was Deputy Governor. I am here today as Minister of Works, and I am very shocked by the development that has taken place here in the past two years.

“Even my aides kept asking me, ‘Sir, is this the same Benue State we have been to?’” he said.

The Minister particularly praised the quality of road construction, lauding the contractors, engineers, and directors involved for their professionalism and commitment.

““The quality is overwhelming. I told the Governor that he is lucky to have contractors who are determined to do a good job,” he added.

Beyond roads, he also highlighted other projects such as the ongoing cancer treatment centre at the Benue State University Teaching Hospital, describing them as life-changing for the people.

“If I am feeling sick and I see good infrastructure, I will get well. I love development so much, and I am very excited about what Governor Alia is doing,” the Minister remarked, stressing that the efforts should be viewed beyond politics.

He assured that he would brief President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on the remarkable progress in the state, noting that Benue people not only appreciate the President but also strongly support Governor Alia’s administration.

“Everything must not be politicized. We must put politics aside and talk about the future of this country. It is all about the people and all about God.

“Governor Alia has taken God first, and he is making us proud,” he said.
