The Nigeria Police Force has confirmed receiving a formal petition from the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) over an alleged incident involving popular musician Mr. Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, widely known as KWAM 1.
In a statement issued on Tuesday by the Force spokesperson, DCP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, KWAM 1 is accused of unruly behaviour that allegedly obstructed the safe operation of an aircraft, in violation of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Regulations, 2023.
The incident reportedly occurred on 5 August 2025 at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.
Following the petition, the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has ordered the Commissioner of Police in charge of the Airport Command to launch an immediate and thorough investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the matter and ensure justice is served.
The Force reiterated its commitment to maintaining safety and security in Nigeria’s aviation sector and pledged closer collaboration with industry stakeholders to strengthen aviation security and enforce strict compliance with aviation laws.
