The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Kano State Command, recently welcomed a delegation from the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), marking a significant step toward enhanced collaboration between the security agency and the media.
Receiving the visiting NUJ executives at the command headquarters, State Commandant Shafi’u Abdulmumin expressed appreciation for the visit, describing it as a notable occasion and the first of its kind by such a distinguished group of media professionals.
He commended journalists for their indispensable role in shaping public opinion, promoting accountability, and fostering peace and development across the country. “The contribution of the media to national stability and growth cannot be overstated,” he noted.
In his remarks, the Acting Chairman of NUJ, Kano State Council, Comrade Mustapha Gambo Muhammad, said the visit was intended to strengthen the bond between the union and the NSCDC. He highlighted the NUJ’s recent 70th anniversary, proudly noting that the union predates Nigeria’s independence.
Describing the NSCDC as a strategic partner in building a secure and orderly society, Comrade Mustapha praised the Corps for its efforts in safeguarding lives and property across the state. He also suggested that the NSCDC consider hosting some of its official engagements at the NUJ Conference Hall to further cement the relationship between both institutions.
