The Executive Secretary of the Kano State Censorship Board, Abba El-Mustapha, has ordered the immediate revocation of licenses for eight open theaters in the state for violating the Board’s rules and regulations.

A statement by the Board’s Information Officer, Abdullahi Sani Sulaiman, listed the affected theaters:

  1. Hamdala Entertainment (Ungoggo)
  2. Lady J. Entertainment (Sanya Olu)
  3. Dan Hausa Entertainment (Sanya Olu)
  4. Ni’ima Entertainment (Zungeru)
  5. Ariya Entertainment (Abedi Sabon Gari)
  6. Babbangida Entertainment (Balatus)
  7. Harsashi Entertainment (Ebedi Sabon Gari)
  8. Wazobiya Entertainment (Sanya Olu)

According to the statement, the revocation followed their repeated failure to comply with the Board’s operational guidelines.

The Executive Secretary reaffirmed the Board’s commitment to enforcing the law against defaulters, the statement assured.

The Board is empowered by law to regulate all open theater operations in Kano State and apply sanctions to those who violate established standards.

It could be recalled that the Board had previously suspended several open theaters in the state for similar infractions as part of its mandate to supervise and ensure accountability in the entertainment industry.
