The Hadejia Emirate Council Zakkat Committee has distributed food items and domestic animals worth N11,760,000,000 to the vulnerable at Garin- Gabas District in Malam Madori.
Zakat is one of the five pillars of the faith. It is a mandatory donation of a certain proportion of one’s wealth each year to charity.
Barrister Abdulfatah Abdulwahab, the Committee Chairman, represented by the Chief Imam of Hadejia Central Mosque, Al-Sheikh Yusuf Abdulrahman Ya’u, called wealthy individuals in Hadejià Emirate to purify their wealth by giving Zakkat to the needy.
The Secretary of the Committee, Engineer Ismail Garba Barde, said the items that were distributed included 28 Bags of Millet, 181½ Bags of Sorghum, 5 Bags of Rice, 3 Bags of Beans, 4 Sheep, and 1 cow respectively.
In his remarks, Dr Umar Nasarawa has called wealthy people, and farmers to consider the obligatory pillar of Zakkat that will redouble and purify their wealth.
Delivering his speech, a traditional title holder, Wakilin Yan Kasuwa, Muhammad Garba Dankundi, commended those who paid Zakkat out of their properties and urged them to double their efforts.
