6-Man Executive Council Committee on Project Monitoring Kicks-off Operation

The Executive Council Committee on Project Monitoring constituted by Kano State Governor, Engr Abba Kabir Yusuf, under the chairmanship of the Honorable Commissioner Ministry for Public Procurement Project Monitoring and Evaluation, Kano Comrade Nura Ma’aji Sumaila has today started operations

During the last Executive Council meeting, in respect of the ongoing projects/contracts awarded for the construction of Kwankwasiyya Gida-Gida 1-story building of 4 Classrooms across the state, Yusuf formed a 6-man State Monitoring Committee to closely monitor All the ongoing projects of Kwankwasiyya Gida-Gida blocks of classrooms

The committee comprised Comrade Sumaila, Hon Commissioner of the Ministry for Public Procurement Project Monitoring and Evaluation as chairman, Comrade Ibrahim Waiya, Honorable Commissioner of Ministry of Information, member and Engr Marwan Ahmad, Honorable Commissioner of Ministry of Works and Housing also a member.

Other members of the committee were Ali Haruna Makoda, Hon Commissioner of the Ministry of Education, member Nasiru Sule Garo, Honorable Commissioner of Ministry for Special Duties, member and Habibu Sale State Chairman Kano Projects Protection Association (Kano PRO-PA) member.

Today, the committee visited six local government Areas. The committee inspected the construction building in Wudil, Garko, Sumaila, Albasu, Takai and Gaya local governments.

The chairman of the committee, Comrade Nura Ma’aji Sumaila said that they will go round across the 44 local governments wherever the school project is taking place as requested by Governor Yusuf. After this, the committee will prepare a report and forward it to the state council in order to take appropriate action.

“This committee has given a mandate to assess the quality of all Kwankwasiyya Gida-Gida Block  projects that are currently taking place.”

” The State Executive Council received complaints from the people of Kano, that’s why His Excellency set-up this committee and tasked them to make assessments and report back to the council.”

The Honorable Commissioner warned the contractors to abide by the terms of the agreement for each contract in order to ensure value for money. He then thanked the team of engineers for doing the necessary assessment and emphasized that their work would form the report that will be forwarded to the Governor during the next coming Executive Council meeting.
