President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has signed the Appropriation (Amendment) (No. 4) Bill, 2025, extending the implementation period of the 2025 budget from 30 September 2026, to 31 December 2026.
The President’s assent followed the passage of the amendment by the Senate and the House of Representatives on Tuesday, 29 September 2026.
According to a statement issued on Wednesday by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the extension will enable Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) to complete ongoing capital projects.
The extension is also expected to ensure that funds already appropriated are fully utilized for the benefit of Nigerians without disrupting critical government programs.
Tinubu commended the leadership and members of the National Assembly for their prompt consideration and passage of the amendment, describing it as another indication of cooperation between the Executive and Legislature in the service of the nation.
