Vice President, Senator Kashim Shettima, has commended the Sir Ahmadu Bello Sardauna Foundation for the successful hosting of its 12th Annual Memorial Lecture and Awards Presentation, which honoured distinguished leaders for their contributions to the development and progress of the Northern region.
Senator Shettima who was represented by his Chief of staff and former deputy governor of Jigawa state, Barrister Ibrahim Hassan Hadejia also congratulated the awardees that include Former President Late Alhaji Umar Musa Yar’adua, General TY Danjuma, Justice Zainab Bulkachuwa, Anthony NZ Sani among others.
According to him, the memorial lecture stands as a testament to good leadership of late Sir Ahmadu Bello Sardauna and urged other to emulate him for better unity, progress and development.
Speaking during the ceremony, the Jigawa State governor, Malam Umar Namadi, welcomed the participants as the occasion was hosted by the Jigawa government and the foundation.
He explained that, Sir Ahmadu Bello’s good legacies, visionary approach and statesmanship characterized by unwavering Unity, progress and inclusive development continues to inspire successful generations in the region.
“Sir Ahmadu Bello’s legacies especially his commitments to education, Unity development serves as guidelines for us”.
He then commended the foundation for preserving and promoting Sardauna’s legacies through impactful programs, annual lectures and awards ideals of unity, educational extracts and inclusive development that keeps his vision alive for the current and future generations.
Also speaking, the Chairman Northern governors’ Forum (NGF) and also governor of Gombe state, Alhaji Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya promised to continue working hard to rescue education from collapse in Northern Nigeria.
Gov Yahaya also promised to continue supporting the Sardauna Foundation financially said, the Northern governors are committed to reviving education as a bedrock of any development.
He then commended president Bola Ahmed Tinubu for commitments towards addressing security challenges in Northern region.
While responding on behalf of the awardees, the former chief judge of the Federation Justice Zainab Bulkachuwa appreciated the awards and urged other people to emulate Sardauna exemplary leadership for better development.
