President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on becoming India’s longest-serving elected prime minister, describing the achievement as a reflection of the trust and confidence reposed in him by the Indian people.
In a statement issued from the Presidential Villa, Abuja, on Tuesday, President Tinubu said Prime Minister Modi’s record-breaking tenure demonstrates his dedication to public service, commitment to national development, and influential leadership on the global stage.
The Nigerian leader noted that Modi’s three consecutive mandates underscore the enduring support he enjoys among the people of India and praised his contributions to the country’s progress and prosperity.
Tinubu described the Indian prime minister as a great friend of Nigeria and a trusted personal ally, saying he has long admired Modi’s wisdom, courage, and commitment to advancing the interests of his nation.
He also highlighted Modi’s role in strengthening bilateral relations between Nigeria and India, noting that the Indian leader is a distinguished recipient of Nigeria’s national honour, the Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger (GCON).
“Beyond being a great friend of Nigeria, Prime Minister Modi is a personal friend and trusted ally whom I can always count on,” Tinubu said.
On behalf of the government and people of Nigeria, the President wished Modi continued good health, wisdom and success as he continues to lead India.
