Porto Goalkeeper Costa Agrees to Join Man City in Summer

News Desk

Porto goalkeeper Diogo Costa has agreed to join Manchester City in the summer transfer window, according to Foot Mercato.

After initial talks between the Premier League club and the Portuguese international stopper, the green light has been given for a potential move to happen when the transfer window opens.

Jorge Mendes, the goalkeeper’s agent, is pivotal to the negotiations and talks with City are currently ongoing.

The 25-year-old has a €75m release clause in his contract at Porto. The Manchester-based club would be forced to trigger Costa’s release clause if they wish to bring the stopper to the Etihad Stadium.

After a difficult season in the Premier League and Champions League, the sporting department have become concerned with the performances of Ederson and are targeting a new goalkeeper to become the club’s new number one.

Costa appears to be the priority target and any arrival of the Portuguese goalkeeper could see Ederson depart City in the summer transfer window.
