The Commissioner of Police, Kogi State Command, CP Naziru Bello Kankarofi, has called on residents of affected communities to comply fully with the Kogi State Government’s directive on the temporary closure of selected markets and motor parks across parts of the state, particularly within Kogi West Senatorial District.
The directive follows an Executive Order and security measures put in place by the state government to support ongoing security operations being carried out in collaboration with the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) and other sister security agencies.
CP Kankarofi, in a statement issued on Sunday behalf of the Command by the spokesperson, ASP Saliu Oyiza Afusat, urged residents, traders and transport operators in the affected areas to adhere strictly to the temporary shutdown for the duration of the operations, noting that compliance would be closely monitored.
According to the statement, the closure affects selected markets and motor parks in parts of Lokoja, Kabba-Bunu, Yagba West, Yagba East, Kogi and Mopamuro Local Government Areas, as earlier announced by the state government.
Members of the public were advised to plan their activities accordingly.
The Commissioner of Police expressed appreciation for the patience and cooperation of residents in the affected communities, assuring the people of Kogi State of the Command’s unwavering commitment to the protection of lives and property.
He further encouraged members of the public to remain law-abiding and to promptly report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station or through the Command’s emergency control room numbers: 0703 832 9084 and 0815 219 5982.
CP Kankarofi reaffirmed the Kogi State Police Command’s resolve to sustain peace and security across the state and appealed for continued cooperation from residents to ensure the success of the ongoing security operations.
