Police Bust Syndicate Behind Home Trespassing, Recover Stolen Items in Sokoto

Sokoto State Police Command has, in its renewed fight against domestic crime in the state, apprehended suspects involved in a string of house trespasses and thefts across the state capital and recovered stolen goods worth millions of Naira.

According to a statement issued by the Command, the operation began on May 8, 2025, at approximately 6:00 p.m., when one Mustapha Maikano of Mana Layout reported a case of burglary at the Unguwar Rogo Police Station.

He stated that unknown intruders had unlawfully entered his residence and made away with several items, including:, one inverter freezer, one LG plasma TV, one travelling bag containing personal belongings, one lace fabric, Atamfa, a set of bed sheets, and a center carpet

Acting on a tip-off, police arrested a tricycle rider who led investigators to the principal suspect, one Musa Isah, a male resident of Tamaje Area, Sokoto.

A search conducted at his residence led to the recovery of all the aforementioned stolen items.

In the course of the operation, officers also discovered a pilgrim box tagged with the name “Amina Muhammad Lawal” and a phone number. Upon contact, Amina confirmed that her home in Sarda Quarters was burgled on February 12, 2025, with valuables worth ₦1,531,800 stolen.

Further interrogation led to the identification of another suspect, Abbas Isah of Mabera Area, alleged to be both an accomplice and a receiver of stolen property.

A search of his premises yielded a substantial haul of stolen items, including, eight (8) bags of rice, one brand new Kemage KM 4000 generator, one stainless steel vacuum flask, one stabilizer, one Samsung tablet, fifteen (15) male kaftans, one iPhone 14, one box containing 22 wrappers and five lace materials, one handbag and three women’s purses, one bag of baby clothes and 3 sets of jewelry

The suspects confessed to multiple burglaries across various locations in the city. All individuals involved are currently in police custody and will be charged to court following the conclusion of investigations.

Commending the successful operation, the Commissioner of Police, CP Ahmed Musa, praised the professionalism and dedication of the officers involved.

He urged residents of Sokoto and the wider Caliphate to support law enforcement efforts by providing timely and credible information to ensure a safer society.
