The Plateau State Police Command has recorded another major success in its campaign against drug-related crimes with the arrest of 25 suspected drug dealers and the recovery of cannabis, controlled drugs, and other prohibited substances during a coordinated operation in Jos.

The operation, carried out on Saturday evening, targeted identified drug hotspots at Old Airport Junction and Fwavei Junction in Jos, where criminal elements were allegedly involved in the sale and distribution of illicit drugs.

According to a statement issued by the Command’s spokesperson, SP Alfred Alabo, the raid was led by the Officer in Charge of the Violence Crime Response Unit (VCRU) and involved personnel from the Anglo-Jos Division, Anti-Cybercrime and Narcotics Unit, Monitoring Unit, and the Eagle Eye Patrol Team.

The police said the operation was intelligence-driven and aimed at dismantling drug distribution networks operating within the state capital.

During the raid, 25 suspects were arrested, while quantities of cannabis, controlled drugs, and other banned substances were recovered. The exhibits have been taken into police custody, and investigations are ongoing.

Commissioner of Police, CP Bassey Ewah, commended the officers involved in the operation for their professionalism, courage, and teamwork, describing the arrests as another significant breakthrough in the Command’s efforts to rid Plateau State of criminal elements.

He reiterated the Command’s commitment to sustaining aggressive patrols and intelligence-led operations across the state to combat drug trafficking and other forms of crime.

The CP also urged residents to continue supporting law enforcement agencies by providing timely and credible information that could assist in preventing crime and apprehending offenders.

He warned that individuals found engaging in the sale, distribution, or consumption of illicit drugs, as well as those aiding criminal activities, would face the full weight of the law.

CP Ewah further assured citizens that the Command remains steadfast in its mandate to protect lives and property and to create a safer environment for all residents of Plateau State.

The police expressed appreciation to law-abiding citizens for their cooperation and support in the ongoing fight against drug abuse and criminality.
