The Delta State Police Command has arrested 184 suspects in connection with internet fraud and alleged terrorism financing following a coordinated raid in Effurun, Uvwie Local Government Area.
According to police sources, the operation was carried out on Monday evening at the Post Housing Estate in Effurun, based on credible intelligence about a criminal syndicate operating in the area.
Acting on the tip-off, the Divisional Police Officer of Ekpan Division mobilized a tactical team led by an Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP). The team stormed the estate around 5:45 p.m., resulting in the arrest of one Kelvin Odini, 33, believed to be a key figure in the network, along with 183 others.
Items recovered during the operation include 273 laptops, 97 mobile phones, one iPad, a table phone, nine laptop chargers, and two WiFi routers. The suspects and recovered items are currently in custody at the divisional headquarters.
Police say investigations are ongoing, with efforts being intensified to track down other fleeing members of the syndicate.
