The Nigeria Police Force has arrested 11 suspects and rescued several victims—including children, pregnant women, and foreign nationals—after dismantling two major human trafficking syndicates operating across Enugu and Anambra States.
Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, disclosed that the arrests followed a precision-led sting operation by operatives of Zone 13, acting on credible intelligence. The operation targeted a deeply entrenched child trafficking ring and baby factory network.
Among those apprehended are Uzoamaka Ani (27), Joy Madu (52), and Victoria Onodu Akasike (56), along with five others arrested from various locations.
According to the police, the suspects confessed to involvement in child theft, abduction, illegal adoption rings, and operating unlicensed medical facilities used as baby factories. Their operations reportedly preyed on vulnerable women and children, exploiting them for profit.
Investigations are ongoing, and authorities have assured the public that efforts are being intensified to identify and rescue more victims while dismantling similar trafficking networks nationwide.
