PDP Youths Support Akpoti-Uduaghan’s Recall

Editor

Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Youth Alliance for Good Governance has backed the recall process of the embattled Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan by her constituents.

The group said it is within the rights of the constituents as enshrined in Section 69 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (1999 as amended).

The convener, PDP Youth Alliance for Good Governance, David Itopa, in a statement, said those trying to discredit the steps of the people of Kogi Central senatorial district are either ignorant of the law or are doing so deliberately out of mischief.

Itopa also noted that at any point where constituents lose confidence in their representatives, it is their inalienable right to initiate a recall if that is the last option available to them.

He said that it is disturbed by the unruly behaviour and conduct of their representative at the floor of the red chamber which has earned an outright 6 months suspension, thus denying the district representation for that whole period.

He said the actions of Senator Akpoti left a sour taste in their mouths and, sadly, the import of such unruly behaviour have cast Ebiraland in bad light.

“This is not who we are as a people. Ebira, even translated into English language means “character”, so, we are a people of sound mind and good character.

“It’s rather unfortunate that we find ourselves here trying to deal with issues that have caused a serious dent on the image of the good people of Ebiraland”.
