The Kano State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has arrested four suspected criminals alleged to be behind a series of burglary and vandalism incidents across the state.
Speaking during a media briefing at the Command Headquarters on Thursday, the State Commandant, Bala Bawa Bodinga, said the arrests were made following intensified operations to curb criminal activities in various communities.
According to him, the suspects were apprehended at different locations, including Dambatta, Fagge and Tarauni Local Government Areas. They reportedly specialised in breaking into homes and stealing valuable items.
“The suspects have confessed to the crime and were arrested in possession of the stolen items,” Commandant Bodinga disclosed.
Items recovered from the suspects include 9 mobile phones, 1 bicycle, 3 standing fans, 3 solar panels, 1 flat-screen television, 2 bundles of electrical wires, and 2 burglary-proof windows
Others are Three MP3 speakers, a small solar panel, 1 power bank, and 3 motor vehicle tyres.
Bodinga confirmed that investigations had been concluded and the suspects would soon be charged in court.
He reassured residents of the Corps’ commitment to protecting lives, property, and critical national assets, noting that collaborative efforts between the Corps and the public were key to combating crime.
He appealed to the public to continue providing credible intelligence to security agencies, saying:
“We urge the general public to assist in the fight against criminal activities by reporting suspicious movements and sharing useful security information with the NSCDC and other security agencies.”
He thanked journalists and residents of the state for their continued support in ensuring a safer Kano.
