The Chairman of the National Sports Commission (NSC), Shehu Dikko, assured that the commission remains committed to collaborating with the Cityboy movement to promote the living standard of the teeming youths in the country.
He started this while receiving the youth leader of the Cityboy Movement Sokoto State Chapter.
He said the NSC remains committed to any collaborations that would expand opportunities for younger generations and strengthen the structures supporting youth development at the grassroots.
The Chairman described the visit as an avenue to discuss how the sports sector can contribute to broader youth empowerment efforts, particularly through grassroots talent development, Sporting opportunities and structured for young people to build sustainable livelihood.
Earlier, the Former Nigerian international who is also the youth leader of the Cityboy Movement Sokoto State Chapter, Shehu Abdullahi, said they were at the commission’s chairman’s office to strengthen collaborations around the youth employment programme initiative (YEP I), a grassroots development program designed to create sustainable opportunities for young people in Sokoto State and other parts of the North West Zone.
Abdullahi pointed out that the youth empowerment program initiative adopts a multi-sector approach to youth development with focus areas including sports development, digital empowerment, entrepreneurship, financial inclusion, renewable energy, creative industries, and youth investment.
He maintained that the initiative also seeks to identify and develop grassroots Sporting talent, support football academicias with equipment and resources, create competitive platforms for young Athletes and expand access to sports and technology facilities.
The youth leader thanked National Sports Commission Chairman Shehu Dikko for the warm reception he accorded to him and commended him for his untiring efforts in reviving the glory of sports activities in the country.
