The Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), under the leadership of His Eminence, the Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, has announced that fasting will continue on Sunday as the moon signaling the end of Ramadan has not been sighted in Nigeria.
The declaration was made in a statement signed by the NSCIA Secretary-General, Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, on Saturday.
He urged Muslims to search for the crescent of Shawwal on the 29th day of Ramadan, stating, “If Muslims sight the crescent by the moon sighting and verification standards, then His Eminence will declare Sunday, March 30, 2025, as the 1st of Shawwal and the day of Eid-al-Fitr.”
