The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has intensified its nationwide crackdown on drug trafficking with multiple arrests and seizures across states.

At the Lagos airport, two Brazil returnees, Ofoma Sunday (46) and Ukachukwu Frank Ikechukwu (36), were arrested after excreting 116 wraps of heroin and cocaine they ingested.

Ofoma expelled 111 wraps of heroin weighing 1.45kg, while Ukachukwu released five wraps of cocaine weighing 145g. A follow-up operation also led to the arrest of their receiver, Nweke Jude Chukwudi.

In a separate incident, operatives arrested businesswoman Okolonkwo Ebere Theresa on September 14 while attempting to board a Qatar Airways flight to Doha with 1.40kg of methamphetamine concealed in her butt pad underwear.

Officers also intercepted 2.30kg of meth hidden in food items bound for Hong Kong and 257g of cocaine packed in phone chargers heading to New Zealand.

Outside Lagos, NDLEA operatives seized 233,800 tramadol pills in Adamawa and intercepted a truckload of over 1,099kg of cannabis skunk in Zamfara.

In Edo State, two cannabis farms spanning 4.5 hectares, with an estimated yield of 11.3 tonnes, were destroyed, and three suspects arrested. Additional raids in Yobe and Taraba also led to arrests and seizures.

NDLEA Chairman, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd), praised the operatives for their efforts, reaffirming the agency’s resolve to dismantle drug networks and protect Nigerian youths from substance abuse.
