Musa Na Allah, Sokoto

The Labour Party (LP) in Sokoto State has elected a new Executive Council with a bold declaration to upstage the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) come 2027.

The congress held on Saturday at the party Secretariat along Kano Road, attracting delegates from across the state in a well coordinated and peaceful exercise.

Chairman of the Congress Planning Committee, Mr. Yemi Adeyemi, applauded members for their discipline, stating that the outing reflected a rejuvenated Labour Party prepared for full contest in the next general elections.

He vowed that the party would dismantle what he described as the APC’s era of maladministration and failed governance.

Party chieftain, Mr. Efanyi Obi, echoed the same tone, recalling Labour Party’s strong performance in Lagos and Abuja during the 2023 elections, votes he claimed were tampered with.

He vowed that such interference will not be tolerated in 2027, assuring that the newly constituted leadership is ready to reclaim victory both in the state and at the national level.

Obi urged Nigerians to embrace Labour Party as the only platform with a clear commitment to citizens’ welfare and national redemption.

“If you want to free yourself, your children, your wives, your parents, and the nation from the shackles of poverty, cast your lifeline vote for Labour Party come 2027,” he charged.

He lamented the economic hardship and insecurity in the country, attributing them to the APC-led administration which he accused of governing for “friends, family and party loyalists alone.”

Elected Officials: Abubakar Yawale – Chairman, Saidu Ahmad Muhammad – Vice Chairman, Nura Abubakar – State Secretary, Aisha Mukhtar – Women Leader, Oke A. Jikan Shehu – Treasurer, Jamilu Adamu – State Organizing Secretary, Abubakar Musa – Publicity Secretary

Deputy chairmanship positions went to Ladan Muhammad (Sokoto Central), Dr. Ibrahim Lawal (Sokoto East) and Abdullahi Muhammad (Sokoto South) among others.

In his acceptance speech, the new State Chairman, Comrade Abubakar Yawale, thanked delegates for the confidence reposed in him and pledged a leadership style based on inclusion, consultation and transparency.

“I will operate an open-door system where every loyal member can make suggestions or lodge complaints at any time,” Yawale said, assuring that the council is committed to rebuilding the party and positioning it for decisive victory in the 2027 polls.

He vowed that the new administration will strengthen internal unity, deepen grassroots presence and drive Labour Party toward a winning path in Sokoto and beyond.
