Kebbi State Governor Nasir Idris has officially returned 24 rescued students of Maga Government Girls Comprehensive Secondary School to their families, a day after they were freed from bandits.

The handover took place at Government House, Birnin Kebbi, with parents, government officials, security personnel, and well-wishers in attendance. Governor Idris praised the bravery and professionalism of the security forces involved and thanked the people of Kebbi for their prayers and support.

He also expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his prompt intervention, as well as to the Minister of State for Defence, Bello Mohammed Matawalle, and the National Security Adviser for overseeing the rescue operation.

Governor Idris confirmed that all the girls were in good health and had not been molested. He urged parents to allow the students to resume school, noting that education in Kebbi remains free from primary to tertiary level.

Speaking on behalf of the parents, Malam Illiyasu Garba, who had four daughters among the abducted students, expressed gratitude to the governor for his consistent support during the ordeal.
