Kebbi State Government has donated the sum of N20 million to members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) to improve the welfare of corps members at the camp.
The State Governor, Nasir Idris, announced the donation on Saturday during a visit to the NYSC Orientation Camp, Dakingari.
He further donated three hefty bulls to them to enhance their protein intake in the course of national service.
The Governor commended the corps members for their orderliness, cleanliness, and togetherness, which, according to him, reflect the essence of establishing the scheme to strengthen Nigeria’s unity.
“Today, I’m the happiest person, I’ve been eager to come to Dakingari to see my corps members face-to-face. No responsible leader will see this gathering without being happy.
“There’s no problem in Kebbi State, Kebbi is safe. Therefore, none of you should seek redeployment elsewhere, my administration will sustain the provision of the most conducive environment for the corps members to remain and serve in the state.
“I congratulate all of you on your national assignment, I have been informed about the problems associated with the orientation camp, government will address them squarely towards making sure that we provide whatever is required,” he assured.
Governor Idris promised to do everything necessary to make the corps members happy, adding, “Kebbi is your second home, you should feel free.
“On behalf of Kebbi State Government, I am donating the sum of N20 million to the corps members in the camp and three additional bulls to uplift your wellbeing.”
The Kebbi NYSC Coordinator, Bala Dabo, Turakin Kagarko, expressed appreciation over the governor’s assistance to NYSC, describing it as the first of its kind.
“Sir, we are grateful for your moral and material support, we remain loyal and supportive to your administration.
“The NYSC in Kebbi further acknowledges your tremendous effort to improve the education sector with resounding success,” Dabo said.
