Kebbi State Government has flagged off training and selection of 70 Kebbi indigene students for degree courses in different fields in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The initiative is part of “Kaura Capacity Building Project 2025” under the Office of the Special Adviser to the Governor on Religious Affairs, Engr. Imran bn Usman.

Addressing a press conference in Birnin Kebbi on Monday, Engr. Imran bn Usman, Special Adviser (SA) to Kebbi State Governor on Religious Affairs, said each of the 21 Local Government Areas was allocated three slots, while Birnin Kebbi, the state capital, was allocated 10 slots, making a total of 70 slots across the state.

Imran said that only students under 18 years of age would be considered and that they must pass an academic screening to meet the admission criteria set by the Saudi authorities.

The special adviser confirmed that a delegation from Saudi Arabia had arrived Kebbi and already commenced screaming of the candidates for the trip.

Imran assured him that successful candidates would soon take off for the holy land, where they would study their respective courses.

He listed some of the courses to be studied by the successful candidates, including medicine, engineering, sciences, and other humanitarian courses.

“His Excellency, Comrade Dr Nasir Idris is deeply committed to promoting piety, religious values, and good governance. He has directed me to visit the embassies of Middle Eastern countries in Abuja to explore avenues for human development,” he said.

The Special Adviser lauded the state governor for his frantic and holistic efforts in not only supporting the youth to acquire education but also revamping the education sector.

He advised the students to put in their best and study hard to come out with flying colours to make not only Kebbi State but Nigeria proud.
