A delegation from the Kano Civil Society Forum (KCSF) led by its newly elected president Muhammad Bello paid a courtesy visit to the Honorable Commissioner, Kano State Ministry for Public Procurement Project Monitoring and Evaluation (MPPPM&E), Comrade Nura Ma’aji Sumaila.
The Tuesday visit marked the official introduction of KCSF’s new leadership and an effort to build a strong collaboration with the ministry.
In his remarks, KCSF President, Comrade Bello, expressed his gratitude and warmest congratulations to the Honorable Commissioner Comrade Ma’aji Sumaila on his appointment by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf.
He described the appointment as a testimony, dedication, expertise, and commitment of Comrade Ma’aji Sumaila particularly in project tracking and monitoring.
“Our visit today is not only to congratulate you but also to explore potential areas of collaboration between the ministry and the KCSF.
“At the KCSF level, we have developed a strategic plan aimed at fostering procurement compliance and providing independent third-party monitoring and evaluation of both federal constituency projects and state government projects,” he added.
The president specifically, proposed 4 areas of partnership as follows between the ministry and KCSF.
Procurement Compliance, Independent Monitoring and Evaluation, Capacity Building, and Community Engagement.
In his response, the Honorable Commissioner MPPPM&E, Comrade Nura Ma’aji Sumaila warmly welcomed the delegation and extended his congratulations to the new KCSF leadership.
He then reaffirmed his ministry’s commitment to support and involvement of civil society groups in all the activities of the ministry.
“I most sincerely appreciate this visit, I take it as one of those visitations that is almost important looking at the mandate I am shouldering.
“I assure you Mr president that this ministry is ever-ready to partner with you InshaAllah.”
The Honorable Commissioner then assured the delegation that the ministry would be committed to those 4 critical areas the president listed and requested for partnership.
Members of the delegation in their separate comments, hailed the appointment of the Honorable Commissioner and described it as well-deserved and timely.
