The Kano State Commissioner for Transportation, Ibrahim Ali Namadi, has resigned from his position just hours after Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf received the findings of an investigative committee probing his alleged involvement in the controversial bail of suspected drug baron, Sulaiman Aminu Danwawu.
The resignation is seen as a major move in the administration’s ongoing drive to uphold integrity, transparency, and public accountability.
In a statement signed by the Governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, the former Commissioner said his decision was made in the public interest, given the sensitive nature of the issue.
“As a member of an administration that has consistently taken a firm stand against the sale and consumption of illicit drugs, it is only right for me to take this step, difficult as it may be,” he stated.
“While I maintain my innocence, I cannot overlook the importance of public perception and the need to safeguard the values we have collectively nurtured.”
Namadi expressed deep gratitude to Governor Yusuf for the opportunity to serve, reaffirming his commitment to good governance and responsible leadership.
“As a citizen, it is my duty to protect and uphold the trust and vision we have worked hard to build in Kano State. I remain loyal to the ideals that brought this administration to power,” he added.
Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has accepted the resignation and wished the former Commissioner well in his future endeavours.
He reiterated his administration’s firm stance on justice, discipline, and the fight against drug abuse and other social vices affecting youth and society at large.
The Governor also urged all political appointees to act with caution when handling sensitive matters and to seek proper clearance from higher authorities before engaging in any issue of public concern.
