Kano to Ensure Professionalism in Filmmaking Through Collaboration with Kannywood, Indian Community

Kano State Government has reiterated its commitment to promote professionalism and improving the filmmaking business within the Kannywood industry.

As part of this initiative, the government has sponsored 50 actresses to specialize in directing, producing, scriptwriting, and other key aspects of filmmaking.

The government also promised to facilitate collaboration between the Kannywood industry and the Indian community to garner support and further development.

The Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, made this announcement on Sunday at the Tahir Guest Palace during a Dinner ceremony with Kannywood actresses, where certificates of participation were awarded to the 50 actresses who completed a 3-day filmmaking workshop organized by the Kano State Censorship Board.

In his address, the Executive Secretary of the Kano State Censorship Board, Abba El-Mustapha, expressed his gratitude to the Commissioner of Information and Internal Affairs, Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, for supporting the success of the program.

He also thanked the Executive Governor of Kano State, Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf, for approving the workshop and recognizing the importance of training the female actresses to compete at a global standard.

He encouraged the beneficiaries to put their newly acquired skills into practice and to become strong ambassadors of the Hausa community and the Kannywood film industry.

He also congratulated all females participants for being the first in Northern Nigeria to receive official training in filmmaking, specializing in directing, producing, and scriptwriting and other key aspect.

In her remarks, Haj. Hauwa A. Bello, President of Kannywood Women Actresses, expressed sincere appreciation to the Kano State Government.

On behalf of the 50 participants and their association, Hauwa presented special awards of gratitude to the Executive Secretary of the Kano State Censorship Board, the Kano State Commissioner for Information, and the Executive Governor of Kano for their commitment to enhancing their filmmaking business.

She also highlighted that this initiative marks the first of its kind in the history of Kannywood.
