On Tuesday, Kano State Government reiterated its strong commitment to eradicating malaria across the state.
This pledge was renewed at the official launch of the 2025 Seasonal Malaria Chemoprevention (SMC) Campaign and Insecticide-Treated Net (ITN) Distribution held at Burji Primary Health Centre in Madobi Local Government Area.
Representing Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf at the event, Deputy Governor, Comrade Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, highlighted malaria elimination as a top health priority for the administration, stressing that proactive steps have been taken to protect public health across the state.
Commissioner for Health, Dr. Abubakar Labaran Yusuf, reaffirmed the government’s resolve to strengthen the health system, especially at the primary care level.
He noted that many health facilities have been renovated, and free medical services have been introduced as part of broader health sector reforms.
Dr. Labaran also mentioned several Primary Health Centres already benefiting from the government’s interventions and assured that monitoring efforts will continue to enhance service delivery statewide.
The campaign is expected to reach thousands of children and vulnerable groups during the peak malaria transmission period, combining preventive medication with the distribution of insecticide-treated nets.
