The newly elected Kano State People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Chairman, Hon. Yusuf Ado Kibiya, has committed to strengthening the democratic process in the state.
He committed at a press conference held at the Secretariat of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Press Center on Monday.
Kibiya presented a vision for enhancing democracy and addressing pressing development issues in Kano State.
He also emphasized PDP’s commitment to a transformative future.
Kibiya expressed gratitude for the party’s trust and support during the 12 October 2024 party convention.
Setting his priorities, Kibiya pledged to foster a more inclusive and transparent democratic process within the PDP, ensuring fair representation and credibility among party leaders.
“We aim to uphold a democratic framework that values each vote and every voice,” he said, outlining plans for reforms that would strengthen the internal democratic culture of the PDP.
“Among the flagship initiatives is a comprehensive ten-year development program for Kano, to be crafted collaboratively by experts and citizens alike.
“This plan would be a roadmap to sustainable progress, binding future elected officials to implement policies rooted in community needs and aspirations.
“We will ensure this vision reflects the true concerns of our citizens,” he explained, promising that the program will tackle educational, social, and economic challenges at the state level.
He highlighted deficiencies in the current administration’s approach to the economy, education, healthcare, and security.
“Our economic infrastructure has suffered, and critical sectors such as health, education, and agriculture are left in disrepair,” Kibiya stated.
The Chairman pointed to deteriorating public services and an overall decline in quality of life, noting that these failures have eroded public trust in government.
Kibiya called on residents to support the PDP’s vision for a responsive, accountable, and transparent government.
He expressed hope that, through collective effort, the PDP could build a better future for Kano.
“Together, we can bring meaningful change to our state,” Kibiya added.
