Kano NUJ Lauds Comrade Waiya for Establishing Advisory Council, Press Fund

The Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Kano State Council, Comrade Sulaiman Abdullahi Dederi, has lauded the Commissioner of the Ministry for Information and Internal Affairs, Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, for his commitment to improving journalism through the establishment of the Kano Information Advisory Council and the upcoming launch of the Kano Press Support Fund.

Comrade Dederi, in a statement on Friday, said these initiatives are aimed at enhancing the professionalism and welfare of journalists in the state.

According to him, the seven members of the Kano Information Advisory Council are Ahmed Aminu as Chairman, Mohammed Danyaro, Member, Farouk Umar Usman, Member, Aisha Sule, Member.

Others are Mallam Auwalu Mu’azu, Member, Bello Sani Galadanchi, Member, and Comrade Sulaiman Abdullahi Dederi as Secretary.

The Kano NUJ Chairman noted that further demonstrating his commitment to fostering a strong and collaborative relationship with the media, Comrade Waiya announced the upcoming launch of the Kano Press Support Fund.

“This initiative underscores the government’s dedication to supporting the vital role of journalists in the state.” It noted

Additionally, he added that the Iftar (fast-breaking) event, organized by the Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs in collaboration with the NUJ Kano Council, brought together veterans, stakeholders, and journalists in Kano, stressing that this event marked a historic milestone in the council’s history.

Comrade Dederi, however, noted that “NUJ Kano State Council extends its appreciation to the distinguished personalities who attended the event.”
