Kano State Commissioner for Women Affairs, Children and Disabled, Amina Abdullahi Sani, has led a high-level delegation to the Gaya Female Reformatory Institute, formerly an orphanage home, set to be converted into a rehabilitation centre for female drug addicts.

Joining her on the visit was the Commissioner for Works, Engr. Marwan Ahmad Badawi, alongside senior directors and aides from both ministries.

During the inspection, Commissioner Sani outlined the facility’s immediate needs, calling for comprehensive renovations and expansions to transform it into a fully functional rehabilitation centre.

In response, Commissioner Badawi pledged the Ministry of Works’ collaboration to ensure the facility is upgraded to provide a safe and supportive environment for the rehabilitation process.

The delegation also paid a courtesy visit to the Emir of Gaya, briefing him on the government’s plans.

The Emir welcomed the initiative, praising Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for prioritizing the welfare of vulnerable women in the state.

Governor Yusuf’s administration reaffirmed its commitment to supporting female drug addicts through effective rehabilitation and reintegration programs.
