The Kano State Ministry of Information and Internal Affairs has pledged to partner with the Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC) to boost public awareness of the council’s programs and services.
Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, made this known on Wednesday while receiving the North-West Regional Coordinator of NEPC, Amina Abdulmalik, during a courtesy visit to his office.
Comrade Waiya expressed concern over the low level of awareness among Kano residents about the opportunities provided by NEPC.
He noted that this knowledge gap has prevented many indigenes from accessing valuable support and services, which are instead often utilized by non-indigenes who register as Kano residents to benefit.
“It is unfortunate that most people in the state are not fully aware of NEPC’s services. This lack of information has hindered their participation.
We are ready to work with the Council through targeted public enlightenment efforts, including dedicated radio programs on local stations, to bridge this gap,” he stated.
In her remarks, Amina Abdulmalik said the NEPC is seeking collaboration with the Ministry to amplify its public sensitization campaigns.
She highlighted the critical role of awareness in enabling citizens to take advantage of the Council’s initiatives.
“Although we are already conducting several sensitization activities, working with the Ministry will expand our reach.
Greater awareness will empower more Kano residents to participate in export-oriented ventures, thereby enhancing the value of their products and contributing to the state’s economic growth,” she added.
Both parties agreed on the need for continuous engagement to ensure wider dissemination of information and broader access to NEPC services across Kano State.
