The Kano State Transport Authority (Kano Line) has organised a capacity-building workshop for its personnel as part of efforts to enhance staff efficiency, improve service delivery and strengthen the state’s public transportation system.
Declaring the workshop open in Kano, the Commissioner for Transportation, Barrister Haruna Isa Dediri, urged participants to take full advantage of the training to improve their knowledge and professional skills in modern transportation services.
The commissioner reaffirmed the commitment of the administration of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf to implementing reforms aimed at repositioning the transportation sector for greater efficiency and improved service delivery.
Speaking at the event, the Chairman of the Kano Line Resuscitation Committee, Saidu Abdullahi Shuaibu, said the training was designed to equip staff with the knowledge and skills needed to meet the challenges of the evolving transportation industry.
He disclosed that the company was preparing to introduce Compressed Natural Gas (CNG)-powered vehicles into its operations, stressing that staff must be adequately trained to adapt to the new technology and operational requirements.
Shuaibu said the committee remained committed to implementing the Governor’s Kano First Agenda by rebuilding Kano Line into a modern and efficient transport company.
He commended Governor Yusuf for his continued support, particularly the provision of critical infrastructure and the renovation of the company’s headquarters and zonal offices to meet modern standards.
The committee chairman also praised the dedication and commitment of the company’s workforce in ensuring the effective management of Kano Line’s vehicles despite operational challenges.
As part of efforts to strengthen the company’s workforce, Shuaibu announced the recruitment of 100 additional casual staff to boost manpower and improve operational efficiency.
He assured employees that the management would continue to prioritise staff welfare to enhance productivity and service delivery, while also commending members of the Kano Line Resuscitation Committee for their dedication and sacrifices in repositioning the organisation.
A highlight of the event was the presentation of letters of employment to the newly recruited casual staff by the Commissioner for Transportation, Barrister Haruna Isa Dediri.
