The Kano State Commissioner of Finance, Dr. Isma’ila Aliyu Danmaraya, has awarded scholarships to 11 indigent youths from Dambatta Local Government Area, as part of his efforts to support education and community development.

Ameen K. Yassar, Director, Public Enlightenment at the State Ministry of Finance, in a statement on Saturday, said each of the beneficiaries received N50,000 to pursue various courses at the College of Health Technology, Bebeji.

According to the statement, in addition to the scholarships, Dr. Danmaraya pledged to refurbish boreholes in Saidawa, Fagwalawa, and Kore communities to improve rural water supply and sanitation.

He also funded civil works, including interlocking and the construction of sheds at two community Islamiyya schools, aimed at providing a more conducive learning environment.

Speaking during an interactive session with youths from the area, the commissioner said the initiative was a way of giving back to his community.

“This is about leveraging our opportunities to impact our communities in the best way possible.

“We were given scholarships by Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, without knowing us personally, and that support shaped our lives.

“Today, we have a duty to help our younger ones progress,” he said.

He encouraged youths not to give up on education despite economic hardships, stressing that “every challenge presents opportunities.”

Prof. Abdurrahman Tahir and Dr. Umar Tasi’u Mustafa, in their remarks, commended the commissioner for establishing the Dambatta Progressive Forum to complement government efforts in the area.

They urged indigenes to support the initiative for the overall development of the local government.

Meanwhile, party stalwarts of the NNPP, pensioners, and beneficiaries of various empowerment programmes from Dambatta praised Dr. Danmaraya for his consistent community service and commitment to grassroots development.
