The Kano State Football Association has announced plans to conduct the draw for this year’s President’s Federation Cup state preliminary round on Wednesday, 18 March 2026.
The exercise will take place at the Association’s Secretariat located at Sani Abacha Stadium in Kofar Mata.
Speaking ahead of the draw, the State FA Chairman, Sharif Rabi’u Inuwa Ahlan, said the move is in compliance with directives from the Nigeria Football Federation, mandating all state associations to conclude their preliminary matches between March 22 and April 26.
He disclosed that six teams have registered for this year’s competition, including Kano Pillars FC, Barau FC, Bichi First FC, Azuhba FC, Chanji Boys FC, and Pro Line FC.
According to him, the two teams that reach the final will represent Kano State at the national stage of the President’s Federation Cup.
The chairman assured participating teams of a fair and transparent competition, stressing that the association remains committed to upholding integrity without fear or favour.
He further revealed that a four-man committee has been constituted to oversee the tournament, chaired by the Vice Chairman, Aminu Muhammad Chana, alongside members Rilwanu Idris Malikawa Garu, Hassan Abdullahi Garo, and Halliru Alassan Sumaila.
Ahlan urged all participating teams to remain focused and adhere strictly to the rules and regulations guiding the competition, while also calling on football stakeholders in the state to continue supporting the association’s programmes to achieve its objectives.
