The Kano State Drugs and Medical Consumables Supply Agency (DMCSA) has concluded its second Quarterly Review Meeting for 2025, reflecting significant strides in strengthening the state’s drug management system.
The meeting, held at the agency’s conference hall, gathered key stakeholders from the health sector, including senior officials, technical staff, representatives of ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs), as well as development partners. Discussions centered on performance indicators, stock levels, supply chain efficiency, and areas requiring improvement in the drug distribution network.
Key outcomes highlighted during the session include improved drug availability across public health facilities, a noticeable reduction in stock-out rates, and operational efficiencies following the adoption of real-time inventory tracking and logistics management tools.
The agency also reported progress on its digital transformation journey, notably the launch of an Integrated Last-Mile Delivery (iLMD) platform, designed in collaboration with an implementing partner, to boost transparency and accountability in the supply chain.
Speaking at the meeting, Commissioner for Health Dr. Abubakar Labaran Yusuf reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to health sector reforms under Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s administration. “We remain focused on achieving universal access to essential medicines.
The results this quarter demonstrate the dedication of our team and partners,” he said.
In his welcome remarks, Pharm. Gali Sule, Director-General of the DMCSA, noted that this was the seventh such review since the current administration assumed office.
He commended the Commissioner for consistently chairing the meetings and reiterated that the quarterly reviews are critical for tracking the agency’s performance.
Pharm. Tukur Ibrahim, Director of Drugs and Supply, outlined the meeting’s objectives and presented the second quarter performance report of the agency’s central stores.
The Kano State DMCSA operates under the Ministry of Health and is responsible for the procurement and distribution of drugs and medical consumables across the state, working to guarantee timely access to safe, effective, and affordable medicines for all residents.
