Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State has distributed bulls, rams, seedlings, and modern gardening tools to 340 youths recently graduating from the Livestock and Horticulture Institutes.

This was disclosed in a statement issued by the Governor’s spokesperson, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, on Wednesday.

The governor announced that each graduate would receive two bulls or rams, along with three months’ worth of animal feed.

He explained that this initiative is part of his administration’s efforts to reduce poverty and empower young people in the state.

According to the statement, Governor Yusuf emphasized that the program demonstrates his administration’s commitment to youth empowerment and food security, which are critical to ensuring the prosperity of Kano State.

The first batch of 340 graduates completed their training at the Livestock and Horticulture Institute, located in Bagauda, Bebeji Local Government Area, following the institute’s reopening by the current administration.

The governor further disclosed that another set of 340 youths had been enrolled for the second batch.

“The graduates from the Livestock Institute have embarked on a journey that transcends personal development.

“They have now become critical stakeholders in the pursuit of food security in Kano State and Nigeria at large. Livestock farming is not only essential for nutritional sustenance but also serves as a cornerstone of economic growth.”

He added that his administration would continue to provide the graduates with resources, mentorship, and access to markets to ensure their success.

Speaking about the horticulture graduates, Governor Yusuf highlighted the vital role they play in the state’s development.

He noted that horticulture is essential for sustainability, environmental health, and creating attractive, livable environments.

The governor encouraged the beneficiaries to collaborate by forming cooperatives and networks that will amplify their impact.

He also presented each horticulture graduate with water pumps, sack sprayers, essential gardening tools, and a seed capital of ₦100,000 to support their entrepreneurial endeavors.
