Following the resignation of the Kano State Commissioner for Transportation, Ibrahim Namadi Dala, over his involvement in the bail process of a suspected drug offender, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has issued a strong warning to all public officials under his administration.
He emphasized that his government remains steadfast in its commitment to fighting drug abuse, trafficking, and all forms of social vices that threaten the well-being and future of the state’s youth.
In a statement issued by the Governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, Governor Yusuf made the remarks during the 30th Executive Council Meeting held on Wednesday at the Government House, Kano.
Governor Yusuf used the platform to express his displeasure and urged members of his cabinet to uphold the highest standards of integrity.
He noted that the resignation of the Commissioner should serve as a wake-up call to every political appointee and civil servant in the state.
“Let it be clear: we will not tolerate any conduct, official or private, that undermines the values we stand for. Every public official must be vigilant and responsible in their dealings.
“You are not only representing your office but the integrity of the entire administration,” the Governor stated.
“If anyone among you feels he can no longer uphold the trust bestowed upon him, it is better to voluntarily resign rather than engage in misconduct that could tarnish the image of this administration,” he declared.
He further stressed that the fight against drugs and other harmful societal behaviours remains one of the central pillars of his administration, adding that anyone found to be aiding or abetting such acts, directly or indirectly, will face the full weight of the law.
“We came into office with a clear mandate to restore sanity, integrity, and progress in Kano. That mission will not be compromised. I urge all appointees to conduct themselves in a manner that reflects the values of this administration,” he added.
The Governor concluded by reaffirming his administration’s commitment to justice, accountability, and service to the people of Kano State.
